About me

My research includes Data Processing Systems, Storage Systems, System Virtualization, and Operating Systems. Currently, I am a professor of computer science at East China Normal University (ECNU). I was an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I was also a visiting research scientist in the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University, and worked with Professor Junfeng Yang in the Software Systems Laboratory.

Recent Research
  • High Performance Data Processing. Through leveraging GPU/SIMD/In-Memory technologies, we are working on accelerating data processing with new models and algorithms, for a variety of systems including big data systems, deep learning systems, and high performance computing systems, in order to improve the throughput and/or reduce the response latency.
  • Hybrid Storage System. Emerging Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) technologies can offer performance within an order of magnitude of DRAM, and make it possible to build new storage systems with NVMs and DRAM. The light-weight storage is a feasible mechanism for leveraging the emerging memory technologies, to achieve a significant performance improvement of data processing.
  • Cloud and System Security. System performance and system security are usually studied independently, and enforced security methods unavoidably introduce additional overhead, resulting in performance degradation. We study system security and efficiency at the same time, and attempt to establish effective-security methods to improve the cloud security while keeping its performance.
